Product Description
Allgood Farm Premium Lava Rock is a key ingredient to improve the root health of many indoor plants, particularly bonsai. Comes in three grades, coarse - medium - fine.
Similarly to our expanded clay pebbles, lava rock creates an ideal surface for roots to cling to, boosting their healthy growth.
Lava rock also increases aeration and drainage, encouraging the vital microbiome of your soil, and is sometimes used in hydroponics for the same reason.
This attractive reddish rock also makes an excellent pot topper, adding a touch of terracotta colour to your indoor plants.
Rock or gravel pot toppers not only look stylish, they also reduce surface infestations such as fungus gnats.
Lava rock also makes a great addition to reptile enclosures, as base layer to absorb moisture and smells, or as part of the top layer to mimic desert environments.
We use this lava rock in our bonsai soil mix, with great results - we hope you'll give it a try with your plants!
About Allgood Farm
Allgood Farm is a small-batch producer of eco-friendly feeds and climate-conscious home and garden supplies.
We're based in Yorkshire, where we farm insects on our family smallholding. Our insects make a nutritious and sustainable protein source for pets and poultry, and we use their waste products to produce nutrient-rich plant food.
Like hobbits, we just love things that grow, and we want to share the success we've had using insect-powered products to keep our plants happy and healthy.
We mix and package all of our products by hand in small batches. All of our products are sold in fully recyclable packaging, and we use carbon-neutral processes wherever possible.
Delivery & Returns
We process orders Monday to Friday and aim to ship within 2 business days.
We offer free shipping by Royal Mail 48hr Recorded Delivery within mainland Britain on most items. Unfortunately we can no longer post to Northern Ireland due to Brexit red tape.
Heavy items (over 6kg) may be shipped using other couriers.
500ml and 1L sizes are shipped in letterbox-friendly packaging.
If you require expedited delivery please get in touch before placing your order.
Orders containing live insects are processed on Mondays and Thursdays only.
We accept returns on unused items within 30 days. Buyer pays for return postage.
We cannot accept returns on live insects. If a significant number (more than 20%) are dead-on-arrival, please contact us immediately.
Volumes & Weights
Please note that unless otherwise specified in the listing, items are sold by volume, not weight.
Soil mixes and ingredients will vary in weight depending on the moisture level when packaged.
For example 1 litre of a particular soil mix could weigh between 400-700g - but will always fill a 1 litre container.
All volumes are correct at time of packing, but some items may settle during transit.
Please ensure you check how much you need before purchasing, a table of volumes of common pot sizes is provided.
Please note that 500ml and 1 Litre orders are sent in letterbox-friendly packaging, all other amounts will not fit through a standard letterbox.
